| Pray that the excessive rains in the interior of Papua would stop. Gardens are flooding in the Baliem, in the Moni tribal areas and in other areas as well. The Monis have had almost a year of extremely poor harvests. Their sweet potatoes are smaller than bananas and many people are too weak to work and plant new gardens. Pray that flights will be available to get the relief food to the needy who live in a very difficult mountainous terrain. |

We are in the middle of our second intensive (with WAVE - West Africa Vision Expedition). Each intensive includes training and a trip to see what God is doing in one of the four regions of the country. This time we were in the coastal region. We spent a week in Conakry hearing about the work and calling of workers in our organization and others. Hearing the stories and about the work we may do in the future, such as oral and literacy work and /or work at the bauxite mines here in Guinea.
We attended a Susu fellowship in Conakry which is usually a group of about six guys that Phil has been teaching. Pray that these men will be strengthened in their faith and understanding. Pray also that the Fula church will continue to grow and be strengthened as our workers move into a new ministry. |

| January 23 is the first day of the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is the only mythological creature in the 12-year cycle. Traditionally the dragon is an auspicious and lucky symbol, so this year is considered a good year for having children and for new business ventures. January 22-27 is the official holiday period proclaimed by the Taiwanese government. For many in Taiwan, this is the only vacation from work they will have all year. Because the Lunar New Year is considered to be a family time, believers often have opportunities to share their faith with other family members. Please pray for them to have Holy Spirit inspired courage to testify for Christ during this time. If you have Asian friends, particularly those of Chinese or Taiwanese ancestry, be sure to greet them and wish them a "Happy New Year" during this two week period of time (Jan 23 - Feb 6). |

We plan to join the Cantonese church to hold an outreach program on April 9 (Easter Monday). The program will be held in a Dutch church in the city of Purmerend (about 28 km from Amsterdam). The program is designed as a 'Family Day' where entire families are welcome to attend. Please pray for the preparation of this event.
Praise the Lord for providing a Christian from the Cantonese church who is willing to develop a Sunday School program for our church. Three individuals from the Cantonese church have expressed a willingness to come and teach the class and several believers from our church are willing to assist these teachers.
Please continue to pray for spiritual growth among our congregation. Pray that God will empower the core leaders and build up a close relationship between the new local pastor and the congregation. The installation service for the new local pastor will be held on May 27. |

Pray for Anne-Marie and Hawa, two ladies that are very sick with AIDS. Lazare found a taxi for them to send them to Gueckedou (800 km away) to a clinic who would treat them. They were received at the hospital and will start their tests and treatments rapidly. Please continue to pray for them. They will be under treatment in Gueckedou for one or two months until their progress is assured. Then they will be able to go home with their meds but will need to come back every three months or so for more meds for the rest of their lives.
Lazare hopes to travel to Gueckedou in a week or so to followup on them. Please pray that they will be receptive as he presents the gospel to them once again. |
